Week 21: Having a Little Fun

I have this ugly denim corset that I bought with the notion I could one day do something to spruce it up...'cause it was REALLY ugly Well flash forward like 4 years and a trip to the bottom of my closet to retrieve my summer clothes and you have this weeks attempt at creativity.

I don't know that much about what is typically sexy, but I do know what I like...

Latex

paisley Smoking Jackets

& corsets

So this is my attempt to make something a little too "Daisy Duke" into something more up my alley.

I really wish I would have taken a before picture, but by the time I remembered I had already gesso'd it...

Anyway...I tried!

Until next week...

Week 20: Jeff's Dad

This week I painted a portrait with acrylic on a wood panel.  The portrait was for an old friend and his new wife as a wedding gift.  Jeff was a great friend of mine in my early twenties.  He was always wicked fun, but over the years lost touch...
Every once in a while he comes back to Hamilton from Germany or Spain or Illinois and I LOVE so much to visit with him and now to have a new friend in his beautiful wife.

It was fun to paint this, because Jeff and Sylvia visited on Saturday so I had to be finished the portrait by Friday.  So this Sunday I haven't painted anything!!  Usually I am feverishly trying to get stuff done because I procrastinated all week.
So today Dave and I took Julian out to try and teach him how to ride a two wheeled bycle.  He doesn't quite have the hang of it yet, but he did mange to get a few sidewalk squares on his own 3 or 4 times.  He was very proud and so are we!

Hope you're having a GREAT long weekend.  Sorry for the crappy quality of photos...even with all my spring cleaning I still can't find my camera charger.

Until next week...

Week 19: 33 Weeks Left!!

I haven't stuck to something this long EVER!  I know I've cheated a couple of weeks, but for the most part I've been a pretty good girl!

This week I took part in The Makers' Market
at the James St. North Art Crawl.

I wanted to take pictures, but again I can't find the charger for my good camera and was too ashamed to pull out my crappy one with all the cool people around...hahaha
The most awesome thing I saw was a Canadian artist by the name of Corinne Duchesne
She works on Mylar and her paintings are breath taking and inspiring...you should check out her website!

This week I continued on with my vintage fabric inspired 6x6 inch painted canvases.
I forget who guessed what I'll be doing with them when all is said and done, but for those of you who don't know I will be connecting all panels into one larger quilt piece...it should be pretty neat...I hope
I only finished 2 this week, the third was too frustrating and it's getting too late...

I'm sorry for the quality of the pictures, it's the best I can do...
I put together some of the panels I've finished so far and I pretty damned pleased with myself.
hope you like it too

Until next week...

Week 18: Can't Get it Together

This week turned out ok, but I still can't find my camera battery charger.  So I used a camera that I found in the bottom of a junk draw that is 5 mega pixels and had photos on it from 2006/2007.  The picture of this weeks oil pastel drawing on illustration board is not as awesome as I would have liked.  And because we had family over for Mother's Day I didn't have an opportunity to take it outside with the awesomeness of natural light...

I think I need to treat myself to a lovely new camera...a real fancy one with LOTS of bells and whistles!!  My birthday is coming...

So here is this weeks installment along with an awesome picture I found that made me giggle.

Until next week...

Week 17 : Slacking Off

What?
Everyone does it!  I admit it, I was a huge slacker this week.

My friend gave me these slate tiles and I have been trying to figure out what to do to them.  My idea is to make them into outdoor art that could put in a garden or hung on a fence.  This is my first very WEAK attempt at that.

I promise next week will be something work viewing!

Until next week...
