Week 33: 19 Weeks Left??

My painting this week was inspired by the 2011 version of Jane Eyre.  I really enjoyed it! The actress who plays Jane is so beautiful and has the best skin, it reminds me of porcelain.  I'm kinda smitten...

As always I will continue to work on this painting.  I am really happy with how the face turned out, but all the rest I'm not totally jazzed about.

I need to switch it up next week...
I need inspiration...
hmmmm...

Well we'll see!

Until next week...

Hiatus...and Other Artists

I'm feeling like poo today...so I'm allowing myself this one small break.  I usually love the down to the wire rushing that I do every Sunday, but today I'm too ill.  So I'll show you what I have so far and then some other pretty cool stuff!

I'm always amazed at the talent of others.  My confadance is building so that I'm able to say to myself I have talent, but I seldom have the idea.  I love people with ideas!  I am in awe of the ideas!

Here are three people who always have ideas.  Well two I know for sure...the third is a young artist who sells her drawings on the street at the Art Crawl.

First is my friend and aunt, Sarah.  Not only does she write and paint, but she's also very crafty!  She created this beautiful journal for my birthday!  The spine is hand stitched! I love it, it's amazing and beautiful!  I cant wait to fill it with all the things I love!

Second is one of my bestest girlfriends Julie.  She is a fabulous painter, very crafty and as it turns out a great needle worker!  Just look at the extraordinary job she did in making these one-of-a-kind cards.  I think after given as a card would be stunning in a frame!

Lastly is a young woman named Brigette.  She is a friend of my oldest son Luther.  She sells her art on James Street North during the Art Crawl.  She is only 15!!  That's right!  15!  What talent!

Next week I will be back to my old self and I promise something worth waiting for...until then here is a sneak peek...

Week 32: Crafting & Dr. Lakra

This week I was doing a TON of crating for some upcoming shows and didn't have time to paint.  I did create some new birch bark necklace designs but wasn't able to finish them.  I am really looking forward to sharing them soon though... I think they'll be delicate and feminine and a great look for the fall.
I took some photos while at the James Street North Art Crawl and the Augusta Block Party.  Both days were great fun and it was nice to see familiar faces.

Please note my friend Julie's new crafting venture into card making!  Aren't her cards wonderful pieces of art!  I think she has a bright crafting future ahead!  Also please to be noticing my new business cards which I lovingly created!  Yahoo for me...oh and the bajillion pairs of earrings I made this week...My finger tips are killing me and there was even blood shed!

On Saturday I saw a good friend who had a great gift that inspired my last ditch effort at art for this week...old photographs!  Love them Michelle!! When I saw the pics they reminded me of this artist who draws over old print ads.  His work is AMAZING...and inspirational! His name is Dr. Lakra, please check him out!

Anyway, ever since I saw his work I have thought of painting over all the old photographs that I've collected, but never got around to it...this week was my first attempt at it.  I used sharpies though...I don't think I'll do that again.  Next time acrylic paint for sure.  I had fun with it...I think it's worth trying again.

Until next week...

Week 31 : I'm Jealous of Your Cigarette

I have to admit that I still think smoking looks
cool/sexy/bad ass!
Some days I wish I still smoked...
All I need do on those days is walk by someone with a cigarette or someone who has recently smoked to be glad I don't.  But damn it is soooo rockstar!

I took some photos of my son in the alley by our place...
Pretty sure he's the most handsomest!

until next week...
