Week 12 : Whatever...I had a Busy, Stressful Week!

I don't have much to say this week...I am doing a drawing for a friend's father birthday.  I love the photo I'm working from, but for some reason I am seeing so much blue and it's making them look dead.  I got frustrated and I didn't start until late in the week, because I got the picture on Wednesday

So here's what I've got so far...

So you can see why I got frustrated and gave up...I now have to scrap off and start again.
In place of this drawing I made some pins with my sons button press.  I have to admit that it's completely addictive and TOTALLY awesome fun!  Although I have to admit that his buttons and creativity in this medium far surpasses mine!  Check out his buttons HERE

Here's what I got up to...

 Until next week...

Week 11 : You be the Judge

This week I did a drawing of my aunt and uncle's dog Cotton.  They recently had to put Cotton down and asked me if I could draw them a picture from a photograph they took a couple weeks before she died.

I willingly said yes thinking it would be kinda easy because my aunt just wanted a pencil drawing. Super easy right?  OH YA!
But this really isn't my thing.  So I had to spruce up a copy of the original drawing I did for them...
Sorry for the bad copies, I gave the drawing to my aunt on Friday and didn't photograph the original.  These are both copies I made at the copy shop on Thursday and scanned...and my scanner isn't big enough for the entire drawing, but you get the jist of it!

So let me know which one you like better!

Personally I think Cotton would've liked to have pink fur and shoot lazers out of her eyes!  She's probably in Doggy Heaven right now blastin' the ef outta squirrels with her lazer eyes!

oh ya!!
Until Wednesday...

Week 10: I want to knit you a sweater Want to write you a love letter...

I know he hates Joni Mitchell, but this and so many of her early songs remind me of him.

He turned 33 this past Friday so this week is for him.

So yeah...that's about it.
I love him!
He's my best friend.  He knows me like nobody else.
I wish I could make this painting as beautiful as he is!

Until Wednesday...

HOLTON ROWER

Finaly I remembered to post on Wednesday!

I hope that you'll enjoy the art of Holton Rower.  His pours and scrappings remind me of things I used to do as a teenager.  He inspired me to revisit some of the things I used to do.

Not much else to say...He's awesome!  Check out his website!!

This last one is knitted from Human hair!  Cool eh!  I also really like the red focus painting!  I love how my eyes try to focus on the blurry shapes, but can't...also very cool!  And how about the sculptures made from dollar bills...Holton Rower you are an art GOD!!

Hope you enjoy!
Until Sunday...

Week 9 : In Search of Beauty

This week I ruined my art project.  I was attempting to do a print from lino block, something I LOVED doing in school, but for some reason it sucked so utterly and completely!  I was so panicked that at only week 9 I would be failing at my 52 week project.  I was trying to come up with a new idea and couldn't.  Should I just start next weeks project, (nope not enough time), should I just do something simple like a line drawing, (nope that's kinda cheating).  The days passed me by and still I had nothing!

On Friday, while at work, I came up with a BRrrrrilliant idea, if I do say so myself!  Pat pat...that's me patting myself on the back.
My idea was to go and try and find something beautiful in the ugliest place that I know... Barton Street in Hamilton.  So this Saturday in the pouring rain, (which added to the doom and gloominess of aforementioned street), I took my trusty camera, my walking boots, a can of mace and went on a hunt for some diamonds amongst all the muck.

I am by no means a photographer and I don't know the first thing about taking pictures, but c'mon people I was stuck and I tried my best...so cut me some slack!

I was yelled at by a little old lady for taking this, when I asked her if I could take her picture she said very bluntly "NO" and slammed her door.
By this time on my walk I had reached Ottawa Street and found this store called Antique Avenue.  Inside I found SOooooo many beautiful things!

The last two pictures are my favourite from my entire day.  I absolutely love this store!  I came out with some awesome finds and one of the owners let me take tons of pictures and is super nice!  You should check it out!
Until next week...
